Ik Onkar (also , ਇਕ/ਏਕ ਓਅੰਕਾਰ, Ēk Ōakār, Ek Omkar, Ik Onkar and other variants) means 1 god and is a central tenet of Sikh religion Philosphy. It is also a symbol of the unity of God in Sikhism and is commonly found on Gurudwaras.

Ik Onkar is from Sanskrit ekomkāra, the sandhi of eka "one" and ''omkāra, the name of the Aum syllable, literally meaning "the Single Aum", but translated as meaning "One God".

Ik Onkar in the Gurmukhi script is a combination of three letters: EkAumKat - which is a line drawn over the Om, signifying the continuity, timelessness and eternal presence of Aum (God) and

Khanda

The Khandais one of most important symbols of Sikhism Its importance is emphasized by the fact that many Sikh flags, including the Nishan Sahib have the Khanda on them. It is a collection of four weapons commonly used by Sikhs at the time of Guru Gobind Singh Ji..

The weapons are

  • A double-edged sword called a Khanda sits in the middle.
  • A Chakkar is a circular weapon that surrounds the Khanda

Two single-edged swords, or Kirpansare crossed at the bottom and sit on either side of the Khanda and Chakkar. They represent the dual nature/duties of the Gurus Miri and Piri
